Head Director, Mr. Glenn Fugett

Mr. Fugett came to Legacy from Westlake High School in Austin, Texas, where he was the Associate Director of Bands for 15 years.  During that time, he was in charge of the Marching Band, Symphonic Band I, Jazz Ensembles and A.P. Music Theory class.  

A sample of his accomplishments include: first place 5A second band at the South Coast Music Festival in Corpus Christi, 1999, 2004 and 2006 as well as preparation for the Wind Ensemble for Midwest for the American Bandmasters Association Convention in 2006.  Mr. Fugett received his Bachelor of Music from The University of Akron in 1986.

He shares his life with his wife Robin and their two Cocker Spaniels.

Associate Director, Mr. JP Wilson

Mr. Wilson is originally from Carrollton, Texas where he attended Creekview High School under the direction of Nathaniel Neugent.  He student taught at Richland High School and North Richland Middle School under the supervision of Bill Watson and Melodianne Mallow.  Mr. Wilson is a recent graduate of Texas Christian University where he received his bachelor degree in Music Education.  

While attending TCU, Mr. Wilson was Drum Major of the Pride of TCU Marching Band for 2 years under the direction of Brian Youngblood.  He was also involved in the Jazz program under the direction of Curt Wilson, and a member of the Wind Symphony under the direction of Bobby Francis.  He was also member of the trumpet studio under Dr. Jon Burgess.  Mr. Wilson has performed at Texas Motor Speedway, TMEA, CBDNA, and the International Trumpet Guild.  He was shown on national TV conducting the Pride of TCU at the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl.

Additionally, Mr. Wilson has arranged show music for the Pride of TCU, and is a marching band leadership instructor at the UTA Summer Music Camp.  He is also member of TMEA and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia.  Entering his 2nd year of teaching, Mr. Wilson is very excited to be a part of the Legacy Bronco Band family

Assistant Director, Mr. Chris Retschulte

Mr. Retschulte was formerly the director of percussion activities for Clear Brook high school in Friendswood (Houston), Texas - the 2005 WGI Scholastic Open World Champion.

Christopher holds a master's degree from the University of Massachusetts, as well as a bachelor's degree from Eastern Kentucky University. He has studied and taught with some of the best in the business, including Thom Hannum, Rob James, Jim Ancona, Jim Casella, Murray Gusseck, Ralph Hardimon, Steve Ulicny, Glen Crosby, Joe Fant, Micah Brusse, Brian Perez, and Dustin Schletzer.

He was a member of the front ensemble of the Star of Indiana Drum and Bugle Corps in 1993 and has gone on to instruct numerous drum corps including Star of Indiana Brass Theater, Troopers, Boston Crusaders, Blue Knights, Santa Clara Vanguard and the Academy Drum and Bugle Corps.

Additionally, he has been on staff with the University of Massachusetts Percussion Department, the University of Massachusetts Marching Band, and Thom Hannum's Mobile Percussion Seminar and has also taught/arranged for numerous high school programs throughout the United States and Japan.

Chris is an active composer/arranger, and is published through JW3 publications. He is an endorser of Pearl/Adams, ProMark sticks and mallets and Remo Drumheads.



Colorguard Director, Mrs. Renee Cantrell


Renee Cantrell is excited to join the staff of the Legacy Band as the colorguard director.  She has recently finished her third year as the colorguard director of Birdville High school. This past year, the Birdville Winterguard received the silver medal in SA class as well as 4th place at the WGI power regional. Prior to Birdville, Mrs. Cantrell was a Associate Director of Bands at JJ Pearce High School in Richardson TX.  During her last year at JJ Pearce, the marching band made an appearance at the Texas State Marching contest. As well as the Winterguard receiving the silver medal in SA class.

 

Mrs. Cantrell is a graduate of The University of Texas at Arlington and holds a Bachelors Degree in Music Education.  Her honors include graduating Magna Cum Laude and consistently making the deans list.  Before college Renee was an all-state flute player for the Grapevine High School band.  While at The University of Texas at Arlington, she was a member of the Wind Ensemble and was the principle flute player in the concert band.  Renee also served as a colorguard drill instructor in 2001 and guard captain in 2002.  During her last year in college, Renee joined the UTA's marching band staff for the 2003 season.

 

Mrs. Cantrell has performed with top colorguards including the Bluecoats Drum and Bugle Corps and Ars Nova Independent Winterguard.  For the 2004 season, she was a staff member of Insignia Winterguard, a 2004 Winter Guard International Open Class Finalist.  She has also taught at L.D. Bell High School, a Grand National finalist as well as a UIL state champion.  She completed her student teaching internship at Grapevine High School and Cross-Timbers Middle School under the supervision of Steve Andre, and Jolette Wine.

 

Mrs. Cantrell is currently working on her Masters Degree in School Counseling at the University of North Texas.
